Peter and John
I read something interesting in Acts yesterday. In chapter three, Peter and John traveled up to the temple "at the hour of prayer," and met a man lying there, who was lame in his feet. Somehow, Peter knew that God wanted to heal this man, so he said, "in the name of Jesus Christ of Nazareth, rise up and walk."I compared this situation with the one in so many of our Churches, where we seem to be asking God all our illnesses ... and where God doesn't always answer. What was it that was so different about Peter and John, that God actually answered "yes" to their request?
One thing I noticed: Peter and John didn't go up to the temple "to heal people." They went up to pray. God doesn't want our helping of others to be our top priority; he wants us our relationship with Him to come first. What we do so often is just bring requests to God, just try to help others ... rather than first building up our relationship with God.
